Every device, one vault.

Sync is built like the rest of Acres: the vault stays plain Markdown in a folder you own, and every change rides the same three-way merge that lets an agent edit a board while you’re on it. Nothing is lifted into a database, nothing changes shape.

The encryption is total, not partial. Content, file names and folder paths are sealed on your device with a passphrase we never receive.

One click turns a board into a view-only page that pans and zooms like the real thing, drawn with the app’s own components. Cards open, PDFs render, highlights come along. Readers need no account and no app.

And it is encrypted end to end, which almost no publishing tool can say. The key rides in the link’s fragment, and browsers never send that to a server — so we host a board we cannot open.

Encrypted end to end.

Rare for note tools, rarer still for publishing. Sync and Publish store only ciphertext, sealed on your device before it goes anywhere. We can see a billing identity and how many bytes you store. Nothing else — no content, no names, no paths.

Your files stay files.

Sync does not lift your vault into a database. It stays plain Markdown and JSON in a folder you can open, grep, back up and hand to an agent. Cancel and the app carries on untouched; the server copy is deleted after 30 days.

Billing with no trapdoor.

Flat public prices, managed inside the app, the same for one device or ten. A one-time app license and two flat subscriptions are the whole business model: no ads, no telemetry, no data sales.

Fair questions.

Can you read what I sync or publish?

No. Both are end-to-end encrypted, so our servers hold ciphertext they cannot open. Sync’s keys derive from your passphrase on your own device; Publish’s key rides in the link’s fragment, which browsers never transmit. We see billing details, sizes and timestamps — never content, board names or file paths.

What if I lose my sync passphrase?

Setup hands you a second secret: a recovery key, shown once, meant to be printed. Either one unlocks the vault. We hold neither, so we cannot reset it — lose both and the server copy is unreadable forever, including by us. Your local files are untouched, and you can re-enroll the vault with a new passphrase.

How many devices does a plan cover?

All of them. A plan follows your account, not a machine. Sign in anywhere you run Acres and the vault is there — there is no device count, no seat count and no extra charge for adding one.

Do I need an account?

Only for Cloud. The app itself never asks for one. An account is your email and a one-time code — no password — and it exists to carry your subscription across devices. The app license is a key, not an account.

Do I need Cloud to use the license, or the license to use Cloud?

Neither. They are separate purchases. A trial or read-only Acres can still sync and publish if you subscribe, and a licensed Acres never needs Cloud.

What happens if I cancel?

The app does not change — your license and your files never depended on the subscription. Your files are on your disk where they always were. Published links keep working for 30 days and then go dark, and synced data is kept for 30 days in case you come back, then deleted.
