After 14 days Acres is read-only until you buy or subscribe: everything still opens, searches, reads and exports. Your notes are Markdown files in a folder you own, and any other app can still edit them.
Fair questions.
How much does Acres cost?
Choose $59 once for lifetime local use, or $9/month for Acres Plus with app access, Sync, and Publish. Plus needs no upfront purchase. Both include updates and support your own AI provider keys or local models.
Can I try Acres first?
The 14-day trial needs no account or payment details. When it ends, subscribe or activate a lifetime key to keep editing. Your notes remain readable and exportable, even in read-only mode.
What does lifetime mean?
The $59 license includes local use and every future update, with up to three activations at a time. Activate once, then work offline indefinitely. Sync and Publish are available through Acres Plus.
How does Acres Plus work offline?
Sign in with your email on each device. Acres checks your subscription online and saves a signed pass for up to seven days, limited by your access period. Reconnect to refresh it. Your files remain local.
What happens when I cancel Plus?
Access continues through the paid period. Afterward, a lifetime license keeps local editing available; otherwise Acres becomes read-only after any remaining trial. Your notes stay on disk. Cloud copies are retained for 30 days after access ends before deletion.
Do lifetime owners need to subscribe?
Only if they want Sync and Publish. The lifetime license remains independent and does not expire when a subscription ends. Plus is $9/month for everyone.
How does AI work?
Use your own provider keys, or local models through Ollama and LM Studio. Any provider charges are billed by that provider.
Where do I manage payments?
New purchases use Polar. Open Settings → Account → Manage billing for subscription invoices or cancellation. Lifetime keys and receipts are in your Polar receipt portal. Existing Stripe subscribers keep access while we arrange their migration.
Refunds?
For a lifetime purchase, email [email protected] with your receipt within 30 days. Monthly subscriptions renew until canceled; the checkout shows the applicable payment and refund terms.
